Happy New Year! Out with the Old In with the New. Happy New Year to all. I hope your year ended well (well enough, anyway) and that 2019 is off to a nice start. I would imagine, like myself, many of you are reflecting back on last year. The good. The not so good. Loves and Losses. The happy and the sad. It was one heck of a year, that’s for sure. I don’t make “New Years Resolutions”. A long time ago I remember hearing something like “Why would you want to set yourself up for failure.” What I try to do instead is continue striving forward, improving on what I’ve (hopefully) learned, and continue growing into the person I always knew I could be. (Hope that doesn't sound too cheezy.) I may be getting older but I’ve always said “It doesn’t matter when you get there, as long as you get there.” I wish the same for all of you as well. A few of you took the time to send me your “Year In Review” comments. Thank you. I really enjoyed reading through what you shared. You may not realize this, but I really am inspired by each and every one of you. So again, thank you for letting me on a little piece of your world. Speaking of years in review, there were a few articles from last year that stood out for me so I wanted to include them this month. I know it’s only January, but many of you will be starting (once again) new workout regiments. I have an article for you with some tips that won’t ruin your hair during your workout. Invisibobbles are a necessity, too, if you don’t want crimps in your hair. If you have your hair colored (or are thinking about covering those “platinum” highlights) I stumbled across a great article called Hair Color 101. Check it out. It may help decode some of the hair color lingo that can get confusing. I will continue saying this, men’s hair is still on the longer side. Longer hair means revisiting some hairstyles from the past, like Curtains, a style where hair on the top of the head is grown into a fringe (bangs) and defined by a strong middle part down the middle. Many of us remember this style from the 70’s. What’s old is new again and it’s very much back. And guys, did you know you could get Keratin (smoothing) Treatments, too. Just like for women, they are not for everyone. If you have longer hair that’s getting frizzy and unruly, you may want to think about one of these keratin treatments. Check out the article “How to tame your curly, frizzy, or damaged hair.” I also have articles for you on homemade hair masks, your hair and your health, and more. Check them all out below. Enjoy! That can only mean another year is wrapping up. It was a trying year for many but I do hope you were able to make some memorable moments. I know I made a few. In keeping with a small “t” tradition I started a couple years ago, I have a few “questions” for you. There’s a link in the newsletter taking you to a “survey” that will ask you a few questions about your year. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE take the time to fill in a few short answers. It may take a little thought but shouldn’t take much of your time. I don’t ask much of you (wink, wink) but your filling this out will really mean a lot to me. I will be visiting my parents during the Holidays and will be away between Christmas and the end of the year (December 25th to 30th). While you’re making your Holiday plans, don’t forget to schedule your hair appointment, too. While men’s hair is still trending longer, many guys don’t have the patience to grow their hair long enough to tie it up. Just like we thought beards might be a passing trend, man buns seem to be staying around for a while as well. There are many ways a guy can wear their hair tied up. I have a really nice article that includes information on growing your hair out and what to do with it once you have it long enough for a man bun. The link show 30+ differnt hairstyles. Women are wearing their hair less structured and more messy. Fewer blow-outs and more natural. Messy Bobs. Shags. Bohemian. Definitely a great look for San Francisco. So much so that it made the local news. Do you have a man in your life still cheaping out on his haircuts? Telling you “Ah, it’s OK”? A haircut should never be just “OK.” Spending a little more can make a huge difference. So, if your guy (or you) are having a difficult time spending a little cash on a good haircut, pass along the article “Your haircut is (Probably) Too Cheap” for them to read over. Just a note: I may not be a “barber” (I not licensed to give shaves) but I offer everything else available in a traditional barbershop. And what about those Sea Salt Lamps. Are the health benefits real? I also have articles for you on improving your locks, vitamins for hair loss, a curly haircare method, winter static, and more. Happy reading... 11/1/2018 0 Comments As the Chair Turns - November 2018The days are getting shorter so that means winter is right around the corner. Daylight Savings Time ends the first Sunday of November at 2:00am. (that's this coming Sunday) so remember clocks “fall back” an hour, so in theory we’ll be gaining an extra hour sleep. Even though we don’t have the typical “4 Seasons” in the San Francisco Bay Area, many of you will be traveling to colder parts this winter. With colder weather knit caps go on and heaters get cranked up. These colder temperatures can wreck havoc on your hair. I have a few articles for you this month with helpful tips on winterizing your hair (and beard). Did you know Fall and Winter tends to be a time when we shed more hair? Oh GREAT! I love having each and everyone one of you in my chair and NONE of the things on this list “Are You Driving Your Barber/Stylist Crazy?” pertain to you. No, really, they don’t. BUT, it is never a bad time to go over a few things just to make sure you and everyone else in the salon have a great experience. I always have my eyes and ears open for what’s trending with hair (just in case any of you might be ready for a change). Men’s hair is still trending a little longer and Women’s hair, even though it’s getting cooler out, is trending shoulder length or shorter. I will always ask if you’re wanting to try something a little different. Even so, please, don’t be shy in letting me know if you are ready for a change or want to try something different. Depending on the style, we may need to put a plan together to help you reach that goal. Just like the seasons, hair (long or short) will continue to change and, yes, it will grow. Start thinking about your “Best of 2018”. It’s early, I know, but the Holidays are upon us and pretty soon you’ll be asking yourself where did the year go. As with every month, I hope you find something in this issue that grabs your attention. Please share with your loved ones and friends (there's a forward button near the bottom). You never know, they might find something interesting in here as well. Oh yeah, VOTE…!!! Now have a seat and take a browse... What's Inside This Month
