Spring is in the hair. I noticed something trending with women's hair at the beginning of the year, shorter hair. It was a new year and women were ready for a new look. With warmer months ahead, women’s hair continues to trend toward shorter, more playful cuts and styles. I have articles for you on spring break style ideas, haircuts you'll be seeing more this spring, and even a how-to on a “flash” from the past hairstyle. You may have also noticed men are starting to grow out their “barbered” haircuts, think the collar-brushing locks of Robert Redford and Dustin Hoffman in All The Presidents’ Men and Chris Hemsworth in Thor. This Have you wondered why some have curly hair and others of us do not? Turns out the answer might be in the wool of sheep. And what about conditioner? What is it exactly? I stumbled across a great NatGeo video explaining the chemistry of conditioner. Bad hair habits. We all have them. It doesn’t take very long to start a bad one. It takes even longer to unlearn a bad habit. So, it’s understandable that it takes a little effort to start and continue a good new routine. I found a nice article about some of the bad habits you’re doing that are wreaking your hair. Healthy hair is an inside job. Not only is a healthy diet important, but so is a healthy scalp. I have an article for you with the best oils for maintaining a healthy scalp for healthy hair and hair growth. Oh, and this happened... 3/1/2018 As the Chair Turns - March 2018It wasn’t anything I planned but this months newsletter has more of a focus than in the past. Many of you sitting in my chair ask “how’s it looking up there?” or you remind me not to cut it too short or leave a little here and there. I completely understand. I have some issues going on up there, too. Whether it’s because we’re getting older (argh, I’m dealing with this one), going through a stressful time, chemo treatments, or recently had a baby, most of us have experienced some form of hair loss or excessive shedding of hair in our lives. The hair follicle doesn’t handle stress very well so it doesn’t take much to damage it’s health. Over the last few months I’ve been collecting articles on different issues and concerns with hair loss. I’ve shared some articles in the past, but recently there seems to be more attention on the growing demand of hair loss products. Some of the factors for this are due to an increase in disposable income, an increase in stress levels among people, and an increase in dermatological disorders. Hopefully the articles I’m sharing will relieve some anxieties and not stress or discourage you more. It’s not all doom and gloom this month. You’ve heard me talk about argan oil being liquid gold. Well, I have a nice article on what you should know about this amazing product. I found a great article about Women’s Haircare from around the World. This is just a small sample of hair rituals that have been passed down through many generations of women. And you foodies might want to subscribe to this month’s Episode, Forked Up. As always, thank you for taking the time to look through this months As the Chair Turns. What's Inside This Month

I’m going to pass along articles for women and men on what is trending, some tips and tricks, and what is inspiring me. As the tag line says, I’ve been combing the internet so you don’t have to. Most of what I will share with you each month is what I have come to know and understand about hair during my career and time behind the chair. I’m learning new haircuts, color trends, and science about hair all the time. Many of you have heard me say this before: You don’t want me to get bored. If I get bored, you’ll get bored with me. And I definitely don’t want that for either of us. The “Social Calendar” and Upcoming Movie sections are for you (and me) on what is happening in the coming month. We live is such a great City and I need to be reminded of all the fun events and happenings going on outside my front door and in my community. Some might call it “food porn” but I prefer to call it mouth watering conversation. Some of the recipes I’ve tried, some not but hope to, and others you’ve shared with me. Most parties end up in the kitchen and there is nothing better than preparing a meal together with loved ones. So, let’s get cooking. Don’t forget to scroll all the way to the bottom for what’s happening in hair and beauty news. There is new research and science being done on hair all the time. I’m going to pass along some of those articles each month. Oh, and some health tips, too. What’s Inside This Month: What is Hygge Hair? Is Shampooing Every Day Bad for My Hair?
